Love is Better Than Prozac: A Body/Mind/Relational Journey From Depression to Vitality
Laurie Ure, LICSW, Certified Bioenergetic Therapist, Local Trainer
Due to the impact of the pandemic, climate change, and political conflicts, rates of depression have increased dramatically in the population in recent years. The bioenergetic therapeutic approach acknowledges that depression impacts a person physically as well as mentally. Effective treatment, therefore, must address both physical and mental aspects of depression. Further, chronic and major depression generally has roots in a person’s childhood experience.
This talk begins with describing a personal journey of depression from when I was a young teenager. I introduce a new definition of depression that addresses the body/mind factors of clinical depression. I will examine how bioenergetic therapy addresses physical, mental, and relational factors in treating all types of depression, and will conclude with an overview of vitality as an absence of depression.
